Federal Fisheries Agency sues Norilsk Nickel for 59 bln rbl

MOSCOW, Jul 29 (PRIME) -- The Federal Fisheries Agency has sent a 58.7 billion ruble court suit against Norilsk Nickel to recover damage to the biological resources during an emergency on premises of the company in 2020, the authority said in a statement on Thursday.

"The amount of damage includes direct damage of 3.6 billion rubles due to the fish death and payments for recovery of the damaged state of water bio resources worth over 55 billion rubles," the authority said.

A fuel tank at Norilsk-Taimyr Energy Company, part of Norilsk Nickel group, lost pressure on May 29, 2020 and leaked out 21,000 tonnes of fuel and lubricants into the river Ambarnaya, causing a fire.
